Bowling Defeats Linsly

On Friday, January 6, the bowling team traveled to Dirty Dog Lanes to take on Linsly. The varsity boys’ team won their games with a 2167 to 1381. High individual scores were Kyle Bake with 210 and 226, with a series of 436, Kobie Hennis with 189 and 190, with a series of 379, Chad Viers with 172 and 173, with a series of 345, and Drew Culbertson with 160 and 189, with a series of 349. The varsity girls won their games with a 1537 to 1337. High individual scores were Angel Utter with 147 and 145, with a series of 292, TyLynn Smith with 143, Jaylie Byers with 145, and Danielle Drap with 140.

Boys’ Basketball Defeats Bellaire

On Friday, January 5, the high school boys' basketball team played the Bellaire Big Reds. The junior varsity team crushed them 51-39. The varsity team followed, with another win, with a score of 64-56.

On Saturday, January 6, the junior high wrestling team participated in the Indian Creek Invitational, with a final placing of 8th place. Aiden Hensley and Andy Hendershot were both champions.

Junior High Boys’ Basketball Splits with Union Local

On January 6, the junior high boys’ basketball team traveled to Union Local. The 7th grade ended up taking a loss, 46-33. The 8th grade boys took home a win, with the final score of 41-31.

Girls’ Basketball Splits with Edison

On Saturday, January 6, the girls’ basketball team traveled to Edison. The junior varsity team unfortunately fell short, with a final score of 37-22. The game was close for the varsity team, but ultimately ended with a win for the Huskies. The final score was 53-46.

Junior High Boys’ Fall to Martins Ferry

On Monday, January 8, the junior high boys’ basketball team played against Martins Ferry. Unfortunately, both teams were defeated in close games. The 7th grade lost 30-25, while the 8th grade lost 37-34.

Girls’ Basketball Victorious Over Beaver Local

On Tuesday, January 9, the girls’ junior varsity and varsity basketball teams traveled to Beaver Local. The junior varsity team only played two quarters and won. The varsity team won with a score of 56-36.

Boys’ Basketball Travels to Cambridge

On Tuesday, January 9, the boys’ basketball team traveled to Cambridge. The junior varsity team lost with a score of 51-44. The varsity game was close the entire night, but the team won with a score of 48-39.

On Tuesday, January 9, the bowling team had a match against Barnesville. Both the boys’ and girls' teams were victorious. The boys' team won 2185-1894 and the girls’ team won 1507-1501.

On Wednesday, January 10, the wrestling team traveled to Martins Ferry for a tri-match with Indian Creek and Martins Ferry. Unfortunately, both the junior high and varsity teams lost.

Girls’ Basketball Defeats Red Devils

The girls’ basketball team traveled to St. Clairsville on Thursday, January 11. It was a varsity only game. They were victorious with a final score of 49-32.

Academic Challenge Hosts Edison

The academic challenge team hosted Edison on Thursday, January 11. The junior varsity lost the first two matches, 26-25 and 19-14, but won the last one 26-17. The varsity team lost their first match 39-19, but won the next two, 33-25 and 36-35.

Bowling Buckeye 8 Championship

On Thursday, January 11, the bowling team traveled to St. Clairsville to participate in the Buckeye 8 Championship. The boys were Buckeye 8 Champions and the girls were Buckeye 8 Runners-up. The boys’ team members earning Buckeye 8 Honors were: Kyle Bake finishing 2nd overall with a 556 series, throwing games of 213, 169, and 174, John Gray with 4th overall and a series of 489, throwing 138, 190, and 161, and Drew Culberston 5th overall with series throwing games of 128, 206, and 153. The girls’ team had one member with Buckeye 8 Honors, TyLynn Smith, who finished 3rd overall with a series of 395, with games of 128, 135, and 132. The girls’ also had scores from: Tayla Thompson 148, Angel Utter 137, Grace Cain 131, and Danielle Drapp 133.

Fourth grades Seven Mindsets icebreaker this week was playing the telephone game. They talked about how when we repeat stories we hear, they change a little (or a lot) each time they are repeated. We need to be mindful of our words!
