Harrison Hills City School District Implements New Threat Detection Systems

Harrison Hills City School District has officially launched a new security system at all campus entrances to enhance safety for students, staff, and visitors. The system became fully active on March 31 and is now in use during the school day and at all school-sanctioned events, including athletic competitions and other campus activities.
Superintendent Duran Morgan emphasized the importance of the system, noting that it aligns with national trends aimed at providing additional layers of security for schools. “This system adds an essential layer of protection for our students, families, and employees,” Morgan said. “It’s an investment in the safety of our school community.”
The district has been planning for this system for several years, with the Board of Education approving an investment of over $350,000 to be spent over the next four years.
Ken Parker, principal for Pre K-12, acknowledged that while the system is still in its early stages, both staff and students have adapted quickly. “In just the first week, we’ve been impressed by how efficiently both our staff and students have adapted to the system,” Parker said. “Students are quickly learning how to prepare their items for scanning, and staff have been exceptional in guiding them through the process. We’re very proud of our team for jumping in to make sure students felt comfortable with the new procedures.”
The district anticipates that the screening process will continue to become more efficient as everyone becomes familiar with the system.
