We’re celebrating five amazing 2nd graders who scored a perfect 100% on their first math test—way to go! Congratulations to Nolan Reese, Adam Meddles, Dylan Dolecki, Hadley Coffman, and Abel Harrison!
Third-grade scientists put their processing skills to the test
Students rotated through hands-on science stations where they practiced classifying, observing and inferring, predicting, estimating and measuring, and communicating. Each activity helped them strengthen the foundational skills needed for future scientific investigations—all while having fun learning together.
Tools in Action
Students first learned about different tools and their purposes, then put their knowledge to work by using them to measure, observe, record and collect data, and practice safety in the lab.

The Harrison Central Band shared their talents at the Harrison County Home, performing for patients and bringing music, joy, and connection to residents. Their performance was a special way to give back to the community and brighten the day for those in attendance.
Homecoming Events
Homecoming week is nearly here! Join us as we celebrate with a community bonfire hosted by the Pep Club, the annual parade through town, Friday night’s big game at Wagner Field, and the Homecoming Dance. It’s a full week of tradition, school spirit, and Huskies pride—come out and be part of the celebration! Details outlined below.
Homecoming Parade
Join us for the Homecoming Parade – Friday, September 26
5:20 PM – Parade departs from Harrison Central School
5:40 PM – Parade arrives at Wagner Field
Route: Liggett Lane → Route 9 → the Square → Holmes Avenue → Wagner Field
Homecoming Dance Tickets
Homecoming is coming up on Saturday, September 27. Tickets are $10 per person, and they will be sold Monday, September 15 - Monday, September 22. They can be purchased before or after school in Mrs. Hawthorne’s room or during lunch in the cafeteria. The visitor forms must be provided when purchasing tickets, and they can be picked up in the office or Mrs. Hawthorne’s room.
Students Explore Career Opportunities
This week, Harrison Central students had the chance to explore their futures at two major career fairs.
Chamber Career and Education Fair
Harrison Central students recently attended the Jefferson County Chamber Career and Education Fair, where they had the opportunity to connect with local employers and their employees. Students learned firsthand about the job market in the Ohio Valley, explored career pathways, and gained valuable insight into future opportunities right here in our region.
Project Best Trade Fair
Harrison Central students participated in the Project BEST Career Fair, where they gained hands-on experience with every local trade organization. From exploring tools of the trade to speaking directly with skilled professionals, students learned about apprenticeship opportunities and the many pathways available in the trades right here in our community.
Harrison Central Theatre Presents: Puffs
For seven years, a certain boy wizard attended a certain school… but this isn’t his story. Instead, discover the magical mishaps of the Puffs—three ordinary, lovable students navigating a chaotic world they were never meant to conquer. This clever comedy is packed with heart, nonstop laughter, and a fresh perspective on heroism. Join us for a delightful journey where the side characters shine and third place means something special!

Boys’ Soccer Wins Against Union Local
Harrison Central Boys’ Soccer has broken the highest winning streak record in Harrison Central Soccer history, beating Union Local 1-0. The first half appeared as if it was going to end 0-0, but with 10 seconds left on the clock, Cooper Thompson assisted their “own” goal, and the score was 1-0. In the second half of the game, they maintained their composure and prevented them from scoring any goals, finishing out on top, with the final score of 1-0.
Cross Country Travels to West Holmes
On Saturday, September 13, the varsity and junior high cross country teams participated in the Nanny Goat Invite at West Holmes. For varsity boys, Michael Abel finished 39th out of 83 runners, with a 5k time of 20:40. Junior high boy Kodence Ortiz ran a time of 14:36 for his two mile race, finishing 48th out of 89 runners.
7th Grade Volleyball Defeats East Liverpool
On Monday, September 15, the 7th grade volleyball team hosted East Liverpool. The Huskies successfully swept the Potters 2-0 with the first set being 25-17 and the second being 25-15.
Volleyball Beats Indian Creek
On Thursday, September 4, the varsity, 8th, and 7th grade volleyball teams were all victorious against Indian Creek. Varsity won 3-2 with scores of 20-25, 25-16, 21-25, 27-25, and 15-12. The 8th grade won 2-1 with scores of 25-13, 10-25, and 25-12. The 7th grade won 2-0 with scores of 25-22 and 25-15.
Boys’ Soccer Wins Against Cambridge
On Tuesday, September 2, Harrison Central had taken charge over Cambridge in the first half of the game. With Noah Thaxton assisting Parker McAfee’s goal around the 25 minute mark. Then around the final 8 minutes of the first half, Justin Scott scored the second goal, with the aid of Cooper Thompson's assist. The second half started and pushed till the very end, however Cambridge got a Penalty Kick around the 8 minute mark. Brady McAfee attempted, but unfortunately failed to save the goal. Yet, Harrison Central still came out on top and was victorious against Cambridge.
Junior Varsity Football Victorious Over Newcomerstown
On Saturday, August 30, the junior varsity football team hosted Newcomerstown. The boys were victorious with a final score of 28-22.
Boys’ Soccer Defeats Carrollton
The boys’ soccer team hosted Carrollton on Thursday, September 4. They beat the Warriors 2-1, with Triston Cole scoring the first goal on a penalty kick and Parker McAfee scoring the second goal off an assist from Justin Scott. Goalie Brady McAfee finished with six saves.
Boys’ Soccer Shuts Out Fairless
The boys’ soccer team hosted Fairless on Saturday, August 30. The team was victorious with a final score of 2-0, successfully shutting down the Falcons. Justin Scott scored both of the goals for the Huskies.
7th Grade Volleyball Shuts Out Edison
On Saturday, August 30, the 7th grade volleyball team traveled to Edison. They shut out the Wildcats 2-0; 25-11 and 25-13.
