Fire Safety Week

This week, our elementary students learned important lessons about fire safety thanks to a visit from the Cadiz Volunteer Fire Department. Students explored ways to stay safe, practiced “Stop, Drop, and Roll,” and even got a closer look at firefighting gear to learn why it’s nothing to be afraid of.

Check out our short Fire Safety Week video for simple tips to review with your family at home!

Bus Safety Week

Last week, HCES celebrated School Bus Safety Week! School Resource Officers Sergeant Brooks and Sergeant Valesko—along with their mascot pals—visited elementary classrooms to review important bus safety reminders, rules, and procedures. Their visits helped students stay alert, confident, and prepared for their daily rides to and from school.

Sixth-grade students were busy this week creating scientific models as part of their unit on Scientific Investigation. Through hands-on learning, they explored the different types of models and discovered how scientists use them to better understand things that are too large, too small, too complex, or too dangerous to study directly.

Creative Hands at Work!

Students had a blast this week painting large sheets of paper to create colorful dinosaurs for display in the breezeway. Using handprints to form the dinosaurs’ textured skin, students loved getting hands-on—literally—as they explored color, creativity, and teamwork through this fun art activity.
